Welcome to Martins Driving School website an ideal place to start if you either want to learn to drive or to improve your existing driving skills.

Martins Driving School is independently run by Martin Cutler a fully qualified driving instructor based in Southwater, West Sussex.

Although I have been an instructor for several years I ensure my knowledge and skills are fully up to date by committing to continuing professional development as recommended by the Driving Instructors Association. See DIA link for details.

With recent additions to my professional development I am now able to offer a complete professional service whether you are a learner or an experienced driver.

Learner

Learning to drive and becoming a safe driver for life. This option involves preparing for both the DSA Theory and Practical Driving tests and acquiring the skills needed to drive safely after passing these basic tests.

I have a high pupil pass rate for the Practical Test.

Pass Plus

After the driving test is Pass Plus an approved scheme for newly qualified drivers. See Pass Plus page for details.

Young driver improvement

A short course for the newer driver who has some experience but would like to improve their confidence in specific situations. Such as parking, driving at night, or driving on motorways.

Refresher lessons

For experienced drivers who need to boost their confidence or improve their skills. Can be focussed on specific areas of driving if requested or could start with a short assessment to focus the training.

Advanced

To prepare for an advanced test or take your driving to a higher skill level. Passing an Advanced test may reduce insurance premiums.

Please note I am a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and have passed both the IAM Advanced Test and the more stringent DIA Special Test. Please see links for more details.

Experienced driver assessments

For the older driver or concerned relative who may be worried about whether they or their relative are as safe as they used to be and require a professional assessment of their driving. Following the assessment should tuition be requested it can be targeted where it is most needed to improve safety.

I am an approved trainer for a large county council on their driver assessment and training courses so have relevant experience.

Under 17 tuition

It’s safe and fun. Using an exciting off road facility that is designed to offer all the features of public roads in a safe environment for the under 17 year old to learn driving techniques. I offer a course of lessons designed to help prepare for driving but without the worry of traffic. See price page for details.

Supervising a learner

Are you planning to help your son or daughter learn to drive? You know how to drive but statistically six out of ten drivers would not pass the test if they took it tomorrow. Since most parents passed the driving test some years ago the test has become more stringent with new elements.

For anyone who books a course of driving lessons for a beginner I offer a one hour lesson free to ensure they are better prepared for the task of helping a learner prepare for the test.
